Oliver Murray:

Oliver grew up in rural England, 50 miles north of London. As a teenager he spent all his time in various bands, eventually attending The Glasgow School of Art where he began creating video installations and short films. Oliver Murray Directed “Good Together” (Chapel Club and “Still Life” (The Horrors) we plan to use similar effects as seen in Good Together. We will be using a number of different techniques to create a kaleidoscope effect. We also plan to film in as studio with lighting to create similar stylistic aspects.

Young Replicant:

Young Replicant is a director from Los Angeles. Young Replicant directed “Chained” (The XX) and “We Own the Sky” (M83). We plan to have a number of underwater shots as seen in Chained, and we plan to use similar cinematography to We Own The Sky for flashbacks with use of colour correction and light leaks. We will be applying these stylistic aspects to our music video to give our production a professional look.Wwe plan to include close up shots of the bubbles, a long shot of Ellie underwater and a medium close up shot of Ellie underwater.

Anthony Mandler:

Anthony Mandler (born April 18, 1973) is an American film director, music video director, television commercial director and photographer. As a music video director, his most notable and frequent collaborator is Rihanna, the two have worked on sixteen music videos together throughout her career, beginning with "Unfaithful" in 2006 and most recently "Diamonds" in 2012. Mandler Directed “Ride” (Lana Del Rey), “National Anthem” (Lana Del Rey) and “Diamonds” (Rihanna). We plan to use similar cinematography technique as seen in Ride and National Anthem with light leaks and colour correction. We are also planning on having a number of underwater shots and close up shots of water as seen in Diamonds.

Animatic

Here is our animatic to At Home - Crystal Fighters, it includes a number of shots we plan to include as well as effects and transitions. We have also included a short opening scene at the beach with ambience sound effects i.e. waves, sea gulls etc. here is also an image of our storyboard. to create the animatic we photographed each stage of the storyboard and on Final Cut made each image as long as we planned for it to occur in the music video we then gained sound effects from YouTube (something we will probably be doing for the final cut)



Here you can see we managed to complete the storyboard and animatic before we had planned meaning we had more time to spare for filming and post production.

Planning Practical Production

This is the powerpoint presentation we created consisting of our current ideas for A2 practical production. The slide show tells about music choices, cinematography, music video directors, planned shots and hopeful plans. The information in this slide is in note form to keep it brief and precise. After showing the Powerpoint to the class we received feedback and criticism. We were told our song selection was good, and they liked the fact we were going to be focusing on he stylistic features, but we were also told it would be good if we included a narrative structure to give the video depth and something to follow.

Production Timetable

This is our production timetable, it includes the dates of when we plan to film and edit. We have also included columns with added details to remind us later on what we filmed/edited and when it was completed of if it needs to be completed.

Knebworth

Our most recent practical production task was a music video, to be filmed at Knebworth house/park. This task was set to prepare us for the upcoming choice for next years practical production (music video, documentary and film trailer). For this task we chose our groups and song, we chose to include a number of different songs, Let Me Love You – By Mario (Max), Your Song – By Elton John (Billy S), Want You Back – By Take That (Jimmy) and Un-break My Heart – By Toni Braxton (Me). We had an hour on the grounds of the house to film and then another hour on the park to film. By having set times and strict locations it allows us to have a slight insight to the real world of music videos allowing us to understand the structure of the day for filming a music video. Below is a link of our finished production (dedicated to Mrs Allison).

Final Cut

This is the final cut for our film opening, we have managed to delete some un wanted shots to enable the time is within the restrictions set by the exam board, we have also made some alterations throughout the piece ensuring the sound was where we wanted it to be and also added some extra sound effects and choosing a different image to end with, giving the video a cliff hanger so people are wanting to carry on watching the film. We added a female scream to the end, with an image of Alisha's eyes looking strong and angry.
